Welcome to the Southern and Central Illinois Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (SCI-LSAMP)! We are excited that you are interested in learning more about the project and applying to participate as a Scholar.
Virtual Information Session

Session is open to students, faculty, and staff
Scholar Eligibility
- Be enrolled full-time in an approved STEM major
- Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Identify as Black, African-American, Hispanic and Latino American, American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander
- Desire to enroll in graduate school and/or pursue a career in a STEM
- Have a cumulative 2.5 GPA

Scholar Expectations
- Attend monthly SCI-LSAMP sponsored activities (e.g. monthly professional development meetings, alliance-wide activities, annual research symposium)
- Attend mentoring sessions with SCI-LSAMP leadership team and faculty mentors
- Participate in research engagement activities

Applications are accepted from students who meet the eligibility requirements and are willing to meet the program expectations. Completed application packages must include the following:
- Application form
- Personal and academic information
- Three (3) brief responses to (i) why are you interested in participating in the SCI-LSAMP program, (ii) describe example(s) in which you have persevered and overcame a challenge, and (iii) what are your future academic and/or career goals.
- One (1) faculty letter of recommendation. Due Wednesday, February 19, 2025
